History
Introduced in October 1988 as a replacement for the Opel Ascona, the Vectra A was Opel's bread-and-butter mid-size car. Three generations followed — Vectra A (1988–1995), Vectra B (1995–2002), and Vectra C (2002–2008) — each growing more refined and offering a broader range of body styles including estate (Caravan) and hatchback variants.
The Vectra C, built on GM's Epsilon platform, added a high-performance OPC (Opel Performance Center) variant in 2005. After 20 years and three generations, the Vectra nameplate was retired when the new Insignia arrived for 2008.
