Opel Mokka History
History
The Mokka arrived in 2012 as Opel's first foray into the booming subcompact crossover segment, sharing its GM Gamma II platform with the Buick Encore. It gathered more than 600,000 customer orders in its first year and became one of Europe's best-selling small SUVs, offered with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive and a range of petrol and diesel engines.
The second-generation Mokka (2020, with sales from late 2020 as a 2021 model) marked a complete reset — moving to PSA's CMP platform, adopting Opel's bold new 'Vizor' face design, and launching simultaneously with a fully electric version (Mokka-e). It was the first Opel to offer an EV variant from day one of a new generation.
