NIO ET7 History

NIO unveiled the ET7 at Nio Day on January 9, 2021 in Chengdu, positioning it as the brand's first sedan and a flagship competitor to the Tesla Model S and Mercedes EQS in China. The ET7 was the first NIO vehicle equipped with standard LiDAR for its Aquila super-sensing system and Adam supercomputing platform, reflecting NIO's push toward higher-level autonomous driving.

Series production began at the NIO–JAC plant in Hefei, with the first customer deliveries on March 28, 2022. The dual-motor powertrain produces 480 kW (643 hp) and 850 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. Battery options ranged from a 75 kWh LFP-NMC pack to a 100 kWh unit, with a 150 kWh semi-solid-state battery enabling a claimed CLTC range of up to 1,000 km.

The ET7 was later launched in Norway (September 2021 announcement, deliveries from late 2022) as NIO's initial European market vehicle, representing the brand's first step outside China and into Western premium markets.
