Morgan Aero 8 History

Unveiled in 2000, the Aero 8 was Morgan's first all-new model since the 1964 Plus 4 Plus and a landmark in the firm's history: the first Morgan built on a bonded-aluminium chassis rather than a steel ladder frame, with independent suspension front and rear. It paired that modern structure with a BMW V8 and a body still framed in ash, blending high performance with Morgan's craft tradition.

Its styling — most notoriously the cross-eyed early headlamps — was divisive and was revised over the car's life. The Aero 8 ran through five series to 2018, spawning closed and limited-run derivatives including the AeroMax coupé (around 100 units, 2008–2010) and the targa-roof Aero Supersports. The final Series 5 cars (2015–2018) received a restyled body and modernised interior before the model was retired.
