Mitsuoka Viewt History

Launched in January 1993, the Viewt became Mitsuoka's breakthrough product, crossing 1,000 annual sales and establishing the company's retro-coachbuild formula. The first-generation car (K11, 1993–2002) was built on the second-generation Nissan March and wore front and rear styling that unmistakably referenced the 1950s Jaguar Mark 2 — round headlights, a chrome-laden grille, and a formal three-box silhouette over the subcompact floorpan.

Three further generations tracked Nissan March updates: the K12-based second generation arrived in September 2005, the K13-based third generation followed in May 2012 and ran through 2023. Over its thirty-year Nissan-based production run, approximately 13,000 Viewts were sold. In February 2023 Mitsuoka switched the Viewt's platform to the Toyota Yaris (XP210), renaming it the Viewt Story and marking the first time the nameplate had moved off a Nissan base.
