History
The Mirage (sixth generation globally) reached the US for the 2014 model year as a budget-focused five-door hatchback — often ranked as the least expensive new car on sale in America. A G4 sedan variant followed. Its 1.2-liter three-cylinder returned class-leading fuel economy figures, and its low price drew consistent entry-level buyers.
Mitsubishi announced the Mirage's discontinuation as production ended in August 2024; US dealers sold down remaining inventory through early 2025. Despite a remarkable 125% sales surge in 2024 as buyers sought bargains ahead of the cutoff, Mitsubishi narrowed its US lineup to the Outlander and Eclipse Cross moving forward.
