Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross History

The Eclipse Cross debuted for the 2018 model year as a sporty compact crossover, borrowing the Eclipse name to add heritage appeal to an otherwise conventional five-door SUV positioned between the Mirage and the larger Outlander.

A refreshed second-generation Eclipse Cross went on sale in North America for 2022 with a bolder design. Despite bearing the Eclipse badge, it shares no technical DNA with the 1990–2012 sport coupe. Sales grew sharply in 2025 as the Mirage was phased out and Mitsubishi's US lineup narrowed to the Outlander and Eclipse Cross.
