Microcar NewStreet History

Presented in 1995 and on sale from 1996, the NewStreet was Microcar's design statement of the late 1990s — an open-top roadster body on the brand's quadricycle platform, intended to attract younger buyers who wanted something more expressive than a conventional hatchback. It used a small single-cylinder 49 cc petrol engine producing around 5 hp, keeping it within the lighter quadricycle category.

A NewStreet Cabriolet variant with a folding soft top appeared in 1998 and remained in production alongside the base roadster until both variants were discontinued in 2002. The NewStreet never achieved the sales volumes of the Virgo hatchback, but it demonstrated Microcar's willingness to diversify the 'voiture sans permis' concept beyond purely utilitarian transport.
