Microcar M.Go History
History
Presented in October 2008 and on sale from 2009, the M.Go was designed after Microcar's acquisition by Ligier and set a cleaner, more contemporary look for the brand. The first generation launched with a two-cylinder Yammer 523 cc diesel engine, quickly succeeded by Lombardini units — the same family used across the Ligier range — in both petrol and diesel configurations producing approximately 6–8 hp (diesel) or up to 21 hp (petrol).
The M.Go Electric arrived in 2009 as well, bringing battery-electric quadricycle production fully in-house for the first time. The electric variant offered a range of roughly 50–87 miles depending on speed and driving mode, and recharged in under four hours — a practical city-commuter proposition aimed at urban drivers who could not or did not want a full driving licence.
A revised M.Go-3 appeared around 2015, expanding the line to six trim levels in some markets. The M.Go family continued under the Ligier-Microcar umbrella as the brand's primary passenger offering until the Dué took over as the lineup's focal point and the brand itself was eventually wound down in early 2025.
