The 1977 model year

Overview

For 1977, the U.S. S-Class roster comprised the fuel-injected 280 SE, long-wheelbase 450 SEL, and high-performance 450 SEL 6.9. The 6.9 paired Mercedes-Benz's M100 V8 with hydropneumatic level-control suspension, while the regular SEL retained the 4.5-liter M117 V8.
