Mega Mega Club / Ranch History

Launched in 1992 alongside the Mega Track, the Club and Ranch were Mega's mass-market offering — a plastic-bodied, open leisure car built on the Citroën AX platform. PSA supplied Aixam not only the AX's engines and dashboard but also its chassis, providing a proven technical foundation for the unconventional body.

The design philosophy closely echoed the Citroën Méhari: the superstructure was almost entirely removable. Roof panels, doors, the entire rear structure, dashboard, seats, and steering wheel could all be detached, transforming the vehicle into a pickup (Ranch), estate break, or open cabriolet (Club) as required. Engines were 1.1- and 1.4-litre petrol units or a 1.5-litre diesel, with a 4×4 variant available.

The Club and Ranch were principally sold in the Netherlands, with approximately 150 units produced in total — the project was a commercial disappointment. Production ended in 1998. The concept lived on conceptually in later Aixam/Mega light utility and microcar products.
