History
The Flaminia replaced the Aurelia as Lancia's flagship in 1957, using a 2.5-litre V6 in a conventional separate-chassis layout. Named after the Via Flaminia, the ancient Roman road from Rome to Rimini, it served as official state transport for the Italian government.
Its elegant saloon body was joined by a succession of coachbuilt variants: a Touring Superleggera coupé and Zagato sport coupé, a Pininfarina convertible, and a formal saloon. Production ran through 1970, by which time Fiat had acquired Lancia; roughly 3,941 saloons and several hundred coachbuilt cars were built.
