Kia Niro History
History
The Niro reached the US for the 2017 model year as a dedicated hybrid crossover — one of the most efficient SUVs in the class — later expanding to a plug-in hybrid (2018) and a fully electric Niro EV (also 2018 US launch).
A second-generation Niro arrived for 2023 with a more distinctive design. The Niro EV is being discontinued after the 2026 model year as Kia shifts EV focus to its dedicated EV3/EV6/EV9 lineup.
