Jaguar S-Type (1963) History

The original S-Type (1963–1968) slotted between the compact Mark 2 and the large Mark X. It took the Mark 2's basic cabin but added the independent rear suspension from the larger cars and a longer, more formal tail with extra boot space.

Offered with 3.4- and 3.8-litre XK engines, it was effectively a more refined, better-riding Mark 2. The nameplate was retired in 1968, then revived three decades later on an unrelated modern car.
