History

Introduced in 1950, the Mark VII was Jaguar's full-size luxury saloon, pairing a stately body with the 3.4-litre XK twin-cam six. It sold strongly in the United States and proved surprisingly capable in competition, winning the Monte Carlo Rally.

It anchored Jaguar's large-saloon range and was developed through the Mark VIII (1956–1959) and Mark IX (1958–1961), which added more power and four-wheel disc brakes.
