Jaguar Mark 2 History

Built from late 1959 to 1967, the Mark 2 refined the earlier 2.4/3.4 'Mark 1' compact saloon with a larger glasshouse, wider track, and improved handling. With the 3.8-litre XK engine it was one of the fastest saloons of its era, capable of around 125 mph.

The Mark 2 became a cultural fixture — a staple of 1960s British crime, both as a getaway car and a police interceptor, and later inseparable from TV's Inspector Morse. Lower-spec 240 and 340 versions ran on into 1968–69.
