History

The QX56 arrived for the 2004 model year as Infiniti's full-size luxury SUV, built on the Nissan Armada/Patrol platform with a 5.6-liter V8. A second generation launched for 2011 on the Patrol platform, produced in Japan rather than the US.

The QX80 name replaced QX56 in the 2014 renaming. Infiniti completely redesigned the QX80 for the 2025 model year, swapping the long-running naturally aspirated V8 for a more powerful twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 making 450 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque.
