Infiniti G20 History

The G20 debuted for 1991 as Infiniti's entry-level car, a premium-trimmed version of the European Nissan Primera powered by a 2.0-liter SR20DE four-cylinder. It was sold in two generations: the first (HP10/P10 platform, 1991–1996) and a revised second generation (HP11/P11, 1999–2002).

The G20 was discontinued in 2002 in favor of the entirely different rear-wheel-drive G35, which was based on the V35 Nissan Skyline and used a V6 engine — a wholesale reinvention of what 'G' meant at Infiniti.
