History

The G35 arrived for 2003 as the V35 Nissan Skyline for export — a rear-wheel-drive compact executive car powered by Nissan's 3.5-liter VQ35DE V6, offered in both sedan and coupe body styles. It was immediately praised for its sharp handling and performance, repositioning Infiniti as a genuine sports-luxury brand rather than a value-priced alternative.

The sedan was restyled for the 2007 model year (V36 platform) while still carrying the G35 name, and the coupe transitioned to the larger 3.7-liter VQ37VHR as the G37 starting with the 2008 model year. The sedan became the G37 for 2009, ending the G35 nameplate.
