History

The QX4 (1997–2003) was Infiniti's original SUV, built on the Nissan Pathfinder WD21 and later R50 platform with premium accommodations. It was one of the first luxury mid-size SUVs on the market when it launched for 1997.

Criticized over its lifespan for cramped packaging relative to American full-size SUVs, the QX4 was discontinued after the 2003 model year and replaced in spirit by the larger QX56.
