History

The Q50 debuted at the 2013 North American International Auto Show as the direct successor to the G37 sedan, sharing its V36-derived rear-drive platform. It launched for the 2014 model year with a 328-hp 3.7-liter V6 and a hybrid option, introducing Infiniti's drive-by-wire Direct Adaptive Steering as a controversial optional feature.

A twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 replaced the naturally aspirated V6 for 2016, available in 300-hp and 400-hp Red Sport 400 configurations. The Q50 was confirmed as discontinued for North America in August 2024, with 2024 its final model year after an eleven-year run.
