Hyundai Tiburon History

The Tiburon (Spanish for 'shark') arrived in the US for 1997 as Hyundai's affordable front-wheel-drive sport coupe, succeeding the earlier Scoupe with sharper, more aggressive styling.

A redesigned, available-V6 second generation followed in 2003 (after a skipped 2002 model year) before the Tiburon gave way to the rear-drive-derived Genesis Coupe after 2008. The first generation ran US 1997–2001, the second 2003–2008.
