History
The original Ioniq (2017–2022) was a dedicated efficient hatchback offered in three electrified forms — hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and battery-electric — a rare one-car, three-powertrain strategy aimed at the Toyota Prius.
Hyundai later turned 'Ioniq' into a standalone EV sub-brand (Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6), retiring this hatchback after the 2022 model year.
