History

The Equus was Hyundai's flagship luxury sedan, sold in the US from 2011 as a rear-drive, V8-powered competitor to the Lexus LS and Mercedes S-Class at a value price.

When Hyundai spun Genesis off as a standalone luxury marque in 2015, the Equus was effectively replaced by the Genesis G90, so this entry covers only its Hyundai-badged US run (2011–2016); the US Equus ended after the 2016 model year.
