History
The Holden Gemini (TX series) was introduced in February 1975 as Holden's compact, based on the Isuzu Gemini and GM's T-car platform — cousins of the Opel Kadett C and Vauxhall Chevette. It quickly became a sales leader in its class, offering economical four-cylinder motoring in an era of fuel price anxiety.
The TE series (from 1979) was the best-selling Gemini, moving more than 70,000 units. The final RB series was discontinued in 1987 (production having wound down in 1986), replaced by the front-wheel-drive Astra-based Barina as Holden's small-car offering.

The most popular Gemini era — the TE (1979–1982) alone sold over 70,000, followed by the TF (1982–1983) and TG (1983–1984).
