Hindustan Motors Trekker History

The Hindustan Trekker emerged in 1978 as a purpose-built utility derivative of the Ambassador, designed for the demands of rural and semi-urban India. Its body-on-frame construction, Ambassador-sourced mechanicals, and open loadbed made it a fixture in agriculture, government services, and light commercial work across the subcontinent.

The Pushpak was a van-bodied variant sharing the same platform, sold alongside the Trekker for carrying passengers or goods under an enclosed body. Both were refreshed for 1999 under the combined 'Pushpak/Trekker' designation, continuing production until Hindustan Motors ceased all Ambassador-family vehicle output in April 2008.
