Ferrari SF90 Stradale History
History
Revealed in May 2019, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale was the first series-production Ferrari to feature plug-in hybrid architecture. Its powertrain pairs a 780-hp twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 with three electric motors — one on the rear axle in the gearbox, two on the front axle — delivering 220 hp of electrical assistance and a combined system output of 1,000 hp. It was also Ferrari's first road car with an all-wheel-drive system.
The SF90's name references the Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 team's 90th anniversary. The car accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 2.5 seconds. A retractable-hardtop Spider variant followed, offering the same performance with a folding roof. The 2019 launch price was approximately €430,000 for the coupé.
In 2023 Ferrari revealed the SF90 XX Stradale and Spider as extreme special-series evolutions with 1,030 hp, active aero, and dry weights reduced by 21 kg, produced in limited editions of 799 coupés and 599 spiders respectively.
