Ferrari LaFerrari History

Unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, the LaFerrari ('The Ferrari') combined a 6.3-litre naturally aspirated V12 producing 800 hp with a 163-hp Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) derived from Ferrari's Formula 1 programme — the first hybrid powertrain in a series-production Ferrari. Total system output was 963 hp.

Ferrari built 499 coupés, all pre-sold to selected clients before the car was publicly shown, and subsequently 210 LaFerrari Aperta open-top examples (2016) to mark the company's 70th anniversary. An additional Aperta was auctioned for charity, bringing total Aperta production to 211.

The LaFerrari set a Ferrari lap record at Fiorano and became the culmination of the naturally aspirated V12 + hybrid concept before SF90 Stradale pivoted to twin-turbo V8 + three-motor PHEV architecture.
