History

The Ferrari 812 Superfast debuted at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show with a 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 producing 800 hp — surpassing the F12berlinetta — along with four-wheel steering (Virtual Short Wheelbase, VSW) to improve agility. Its name was a deliberate throwback to the 1960s 'Superfast' concept cars.

The 812 GTS (2019) brought a retractable hardtop to the V12 GT for the first time since the 365 GTS/4 of 1969, creating what Ferrari claimed was the most powerful open-top V12 production car in history at launch. The 812 Competizione and Competizione A (2021), with 830 hp from a revised high-revving V12, served as limited-production special series bookends.

Production of the 812 Superfast ran until 2024, when the front-engine V12 12Cilindri succeeded it; the model represented the apex of Ferrari's front-engine naturally aspirated V12 road-car tradition.
