Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano History

The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano debuted at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show on an all-aluminium spaceframe chassis — the same platform architecture as the Enzo's — carrying a front-mid-mounted 6.0-litre V12 producing 620 hp. Named partly for the Fiorano test circuit, the 599 was Ferrari's most powerful road-going V12 GT to that point.

A magnetorheological suspension system (SCM — Sistema di Controllo Magnetoreologico) and the manettino driving-mode dial gave the 599 a wide dynamic range from relaxed grand tourer to track weapon. The 599 GTO of 2010 pushed this further with 670 hp and significant weight savings, limited to 599 examples.

Production ran from 2006 to 2012 when the F12berlinetta succeeded it. Approximately 3,000 examples were built. The 599 is widely regarded as one of the greatest front-engine grand tourers of the modern era.
