The Ferrari 275 GTB and GTS debuted at the 1964 Paris Motor Show as the successors to the 250 GT family. The 275 was technically significant as the first Ferrari road car with fully independent rear suspension — earlier models used a live axle — and the first to offer a rear-mounted transaxle for improved weight distribution.
The GTB ('Gran Turismo Berlinetta') was offered with two- or four-cam versions of the 3.3-litre V12; the four-cam 275 GTB/4 of 1966, with 300 hp, is considered among the finest driving Ferraris of its era. An open GTS ('Gran Turismo Spider') and the rare NART Spider (10 built for the North American Racing Team) completed the family.
Production ran from 1964 to 1968: approximately 445 GTBs, 200 GTS spiders, and 10 NART Spiders. The 275 family is regarded as the link between the purity of the 250 era and the muscle of the Daytona.
