History

Debuted at the 2012 Beijing Motor Show and launched on sale in May 2013, the H7 is a full-size executive sedan developed on technology shared with the Toyota Crown Majesta via the FAW-Toyota joint venture. The Chinese government designated it as the official vehicle for minister-level officials, replacing older foreign-badged cars.

FAW sold around 3,000 H7s in its first year of sales, with additional bulk orders from the People's Liberation Army in 2014. A plug-in hybrid variant was subsequently offered. The H7 represented Hongqi's first serious modern attempt at a credible executive product after decades of badge-engineered stopgaps.
