Daimler Super Eight History

Presented in 2005, the Daimler Super Eight was the most luxurious version of the aluminium-monocoque Jaguar XJ (X350), powered by a 4.2-litre supercharged V8 of around 396 bhp. It replaced the earlier Super V8 in markets outside North America and continued Daimler's long-running role as the official car of the British Prime Minister.

Updated with the facelifted X358 XJ, the Super Eight was the only model still carrying the Daimler name by the late 2000s, and it became the last car to do so: the Daimler-badged cars were discontinued in 2009 as Jaguar — by then owned by Tata Motors — retired the marque after more than a century, X358 production ending in 2009.
