Daewoo Winstorm History

Released in 2006, the Winstorm was GM Daewoo's first compact SUV, built on GM's Theta platform — the same underpinning used by the Saturn Vue, Opel Antara, and Holden Captiva. In Korea it was sold as the Daewoo Winstorm; internationally it was marketed as the Chevrolet Captiva, one of GM's global crossover offerings.

When the Daewoo brand was retired in South Korea in 2011 and the company was renamed GM Korea, the Winstorm became the local Chevrolet Captiva, continuing the model's production under GM's global Captiva nameplate. It gave Daewoo its first and only mainstream SUV before the brand was replaced by Chevrolet.
