Daewoo Lacetti History

Launched in South Korea on 25 November 2002, the Lacetti was GM Daewoo's replacement for the Nubira, offered in sedan and wagon body styles designed by Pininfarina and a hatchback designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Italdesign. It was the first compact Daewoo sold after GM's 2002 acquisition of the brand.

Globally the Lacetti wore many badges: Chevrolet Optra (Canada, India, Latin America), Suzuki Forenza and Reno (United States, 2004–2008), Holden Viva (Australia/New Zealand), and Buick Excelle (China). A second-generation hatchback, co-developed with Holden, became the Chevrolet Cruze — one of GM's global volume models — completing the Lacetti's transformation from a Korean regional car to a worldwide platform.
