Connaught Type C History

The Type C was a further evolution of the B-Type, developed in the period after Connaught's effective withdrawal from racing in early 1957. The car used the same Alta-based engine architecture as its predecessor. Financial constraints had all but ended the factory effort by this point, and the Type C's racing career was extremely limited.

The Type C's sole Formula 1 World Championship appearance came at the 1959 United States Grand Prix at Sebring, where the sole car (chassis C8), driven by American Bob Said, retired after clutch trouble and an early crash without completing a full lap. It marked the final competitive appearance of any works Connaught, bringing the marque's decade-long racing history to a quiet close.
