Brabham BT63 GT2 History

Announced in August 2021 and debuted competitively at Circuit Paul Ricard on October 1, 2021 in the GT2 European Series run by High Class Racing, the BT63 GT2 was Brabham's attempt to enter customer motorsport at the GT2 level. The car retained the BT62's carbon-fiber platform and overall architecture but carried a reduced-displacement 5.2-litre version of the V8 producing 441 kW (591 hp / 600 PS) at 7,700 rpm — compliant with the GT2 European Series' 2:1 power-to-weight mandate, which pushed the car's minimum weight above 1,250 kg.

The aerodynamic package was reworked from the BT62's fixed track-day setup into a competition-specification wing, diffuser, and splitter, developed by the same engineering team. Customer teams could acquire the BT63 GT2 for approximately €400,000 (roughly $474,000 USD at 2021 rates). The car joined an existing grid of Audi, KTM, Lamborghini, and Porsche GT2 machinery. Production and racing program support ended when Brabham Automotive closed in January 2024.
