Bollinger B4 History

After abandoning its consumer SUV and pickup, Bollinger refocused on commercial vehicles, and the B4 became its first vehicle to actually reach production. Unveiled in 2022 and built around a purpose-designed electric 'skateboard' chassis, the B4 is an all-electric Class 4 cab-forward chassis-cab truck aimed at fleet operators and upfitters — a very different product from the rugged consumer trucks that first defined the brand.

The B4 carries a battery pack in the ballpark of 158 kWh, with the architecture designed to enclose and protect the batteries and components for safety and upfit flexibility. Bollinger Motors qualified the truck for federal clean-vehicle incentives, and the B4 is assembled in partnership with Roush Industries in Livonia, Michigan.

Production of the B4 began on September 16, 2024, with first customer deliveries following that fall — making it the only Bollinger vehicle actually built and sold. Bollinger, by then majority-owned by Mullen Automotive (which acquired a 60% stake in 2022), entered receivership in May 2025 over a financial dispute, briefly exited it when Mullen raised its stake to 95%, but could not sustain operations and closed permanently in late November 2025. Total B4 output was small (sources vary; roughly 40 units by mid-2025, with figures around 100 cited by the shutdown).
