Aston Martin V8 History

Evolving directly from the DBS V8, the model badged simply 'Aston Martin V8' was built from 1969 (as the DBS V8) and through its own distinct identity from 1972 until 1989 — one of the longest-lived single models in the company's history. Powered by the 5.3-litre Tadek Marek V8, it was a heavyweight, hand-built grand tourer produced through a period of repeated financial crises and ownership changes.

It appeared in several body and engine guises, including a Volante convertible, and a V8 starred as James Bond's car in The Living Daylights (1987). The hottest version, the V8 Vantage, is treated separately below.
