History
The DB9, launched in 2004 to replace the DB7, was the first car built at Aston Martin's new Gaydon factory and the first on the company's bonded-aluminium 'VH' (Vertical/Horizontal) architecture, which would underpin Aston Martins for over a decade. Styled by Ian Callum and Henrik Fisker, it paired a 5.9-litre V12 with classic GT proportions.
(Aston Martin skipped 'DB8' to avoid implying a V8 engine.) Offered as a coupe and a Volante convertible, the DB9 ran a remarkable twelve years through several updates before being replaced by the DB11 in 2016.
