History

The Karmann Ghia paired Beetle mechanicals with an elegant body styled by Italy's Carrozzeria Ghia and built by coachbuilder Karmann; it reached the United States in 1956 as a 'sports car for the people' that prized style over outright speed.

The 'small' Type 14 Karmann Ghia coupe and convertible were built into the early 1970s (coupe to 1974), and the car remains a beloved air-cooled collectible.
