Overview
Volkswagen simplified the U.S. Golf range for 2020 to one well-equipped Golf TSI trim while continuing the three-trim Golf GTI. The regular Golf used a 147-hp 1.4-liter turbo four with manual or eight-speed automatic choices; the 228-hp GTI retained manual and seven-speed DSG choices across S, SE, and Autobahn trims.

- The regular Golf was consolidated into a single Golf TSI trim.
- KESSY keyless access, heated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, 16-inch alloy wheels, Car-Net, and subscription-based in-car Wi-Fi became standard on the Golf TSI.
