Vector W2 History

The Vector W2 was the second of Wiegert's prototype supercars and the car that established the Vector design language. The concept first appeared in 1978 — immobile at its show debut, like the earlier W1 — and a running prototype was constructed in 1979. It carried the sharp, aircraft-inspired wedge styling and turbocharged V8 layout that Vector would campaign through the 1980s as it sought the financing to reach production.

Though only a single W2 was built, it served as the rolling test bed and publicity centerpiece for the decade-long effort that ultimately produced the W8. The W2 is the direct conceptual ancestor of every production Vector that followed.
