Toyota Crown History
History
The Crown is Toyota's longest-running passenger nameplate, dating to 1955 in Japan; it was among Toyota's first US exports, sold here from 1958 until 1972.
After a five-decade absence the Crown returned to the US for 2023 as a tall, all-wheel-drive hybrid crossover-sedan. The original US run began in 1958 (the Toyopet Crown, Toyota's first US export) and ended after 1972.
