Suzuki Kizashi History

The Kizashi (Japanese for 'sign of great things to come') went on sale in the US in December 2009 as a 2010 model, representing Suzuki's most serious attempt at a proper mid-market sedan. At 183 inches long it slotted between compact and mid-size rivals, and its 185-hp 2.4-liter four-cylinder could be paired with a six-speed manual — rare in the class.

It was also one of the few compact-segment cars to offer all-wheel drive. Despite winning praise from journalists for its driving dynamics, the Kizashi sold poorly — hurt by the Great Recession and Suzuki's weak US dealer network. When Suzuki filed for Chapter 11 in November 2012, the Kizashi was among the models discontinued; 2013 was its final model year in the US.
