History

The Esteem (the North American name for the global Suzuki Baleno/Cultus Crescent) arrived in the US for 1995 as a slightly roomier compact to replace the Swift sedan, built on a stretched Cultus platform with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder.

A wagon body style was added for 1996. The Esteem was a value-oriented but unremarkable compact; it was discontinued in North America after the 2002 model year, replaced by the Aerio.
