Suzuki Equator History

Debuted at the 2008 Chicago Auto Show and sold for the 2009–2012 model years, the Equator was a lightly revised Nissan Frontier built at Nissan's Smyrna, Tennessee plant. Apart from a new front fascia, revised badging, and interior trim changes, it was mechanically identical to the Frontier, with the same four-cylinder and V6 options and the same manual or automatic transmissions.

Over its four-year US run the Equator sold approximately 8,200 units — fewer than 5% of equivalent Frontier sales in the same period. It is primarily a footnote as Suzuki's first and only pickup truck in the US market, ending with the brand's 2012 bankruptcy filing.
