History

Based on the Impreza, the Crosstrek arrived in the US for the 2013 model year under the 'XV Crosstrek' name — a raised hatchback with 8.7 inches of ground clearance, standard AWD, and distinctive body cladding. Starting with the 2016 model year Subaru dropped 'XV' from the US name, retailing it simply as the Crosstrek.

A second-generation Crosstrek on the Subaru Global Platform arrived for 2018, adding a PHEV option (Crosstrek Hybrid from 2019) and making it Subaru's fastest-growing model in the US. A third-generation Crosstrek debuted for the 2024 model year with more aggressive styling and the first availability of the turbocharged 2.5L engine (Sport and Limited trims).
