Star Star Six History

The Star Six joined the range in 1926, adding a six-cylinder option above the long-running four. Like the rest of the line it used a Continental engine — a roughly 40-horsepower six — and rode a longer 107-inch wheelbase, giving Star a slightly larger, smoother car to sell against six-cylinder rivals while keeping prices low.

The six was a short-lived chapter. It was offered only for the 1926 and 1927 model years, and did not survive the 1928 restructuring in which Durant Motors dropped the Star name (rebadging the surviving four-cylinder car as the Durant Star and then the Durant 4). The introduction of the six nonetheless coincided with one of Star's strongest periods — 1926 sales rose sharply over the prior year.
