Simca Ariane History

The Ariane was Simca's practical solution to the Vedette's relative thirst: the same full-size three-box saloon body mated to the Aronde's smaller four-cylinder engine. The result was a large, roomy car that was affordable to own and fuel — qualities that made it a popular choice for the French taxi trade.

It ran from 1957 until 1967, outlasting the V8 Vedette by six years, and bridged the gap between Simca's older large-car line and the new 1300/1500 saloons introduced in 1963.
